just looked at both on ebay usa, quite cheep and much cheeper than LR ones
The Gen111s do not have a retaining clip, like Gen11. However i don't think that is necessary as the bolted down rail holds them in place. Guess I will find out when I fit them.LOL.
I think mine have same OD Orings top and bottom and I think that is correct for 14CUX.
Yep just checked. They are 0.577 inches OD which is near enough to 1/2 inch and AFAIR correct. I think most Orings for injection are 1/2 inch.

when i got my gen II i asked the bloke about the gen III and he said they will fit and as you mention he advised that the rail being bolted down is what holds them in place. he also mentioned what the diff was between the two gen's but i can't remember other than not a hell of a lot for going in a rover V8.
I have Gen IIIs held down by the rail. No leaks in about a year of use.
Some Gen III's are thick enough at the top to have grooves cut for a retaining clip.
As I said earlier I don't know the retaining mechanism in the Disco, however I do know that, if not retained in the fuel rail, in the 928 and in some BMWs the injector can move down far enough into the intake to unseal it from the fuel rail with potential catastrophic results. So Best to check if this can happen on a Disco.
I'ld hate to think that I knew of this possible issue (May not be an issue but I don't know) and someone installed these injectors and ended up loosing a Disco to a fire or worse.
so what am i going to order?? Gen III or Gen II
