My Disco 1 used to leak from the front sunroof too & I found it had the same drain hole issue. They're very small holes & it won't take long for a bit of pony to build up in there. I cleaned both sets of drain holes on both roofs, & also replaced both glass seals for good measure. The holes are located in the very corners, under the plastic trim. I used a long length of bicycle brake cable or gear cable to poke down first & free some of the debris. A new cable will be long enough to see poking out underneath the vehicle when you've cleared the debris.
If you can't obtain new seals (took me a while & that was back in 2006), I find removing the seal, thoroughly cleaning the seal with WD40 or similar, then smearing Vaseline all around it will do the trick. :)
This leads me nicely to a topic that I was going to post...the infamous wet rear end! Not sure if you guys had the same issue here, but Disco's were notorious for leaking through the alpine seals &, more inconspicuously, the external body seals on the roof capping. The water inevitably ended up under the rear carpet & rubber underlay, & would rot the floor out. I caught mine in time to get away with a small amount of welding work. ;)
Has anybody here experienced a sodden rear floor on there Disco 1? Is it a common problem, or not so much because of the better weather conditions?
Cheers,
Kev
