Leaking sunroof

Not sure if you guys had the same issue here, but Disco's were notorious for leaking through the alpine seals &, more inconspicuously, the external body seals on the roof capping. The water inevitably ended up under the rear carpet & rubber underlay, & would rot the floor out. I caught mine in time to get away with a small amount of welding work. ;)

Has anybody here experienced a sodden rear floor on there Disco 1? Is it a common problem, or not so much because of the better weather conditions?

So far I have only lifted my front carpet but I will have no choice soon. when I fit my inverter and rear power points etc I will be stripping out the interior to run the cables. I'll definitely check the alpine seals etc if I find the rear underlay to be wet and post my findings here.

I had very little wet under my front carpets, & zero rot, so I reckon I was lucky. Looks like you can find the seals on eBay, at least in the UK. Not sure how much shipping would be.

If you're stripping the interior to fit an inverter, etc. you might want to go the distance & strip the interior rear panels, jump seats, carpet...as much as you need to strip out...& pour some water over the alpines and the gutter rail. You'll soon spot from inside whether it's the alpines. Mine tended to leak from the exterior capping, over the rear door (particularly in the corners at the door arch. It's a manufacturing glitch in that they never sealed this area properly.

I know mine was leaking bad from the sunroof. In a down pour I had a water fall onto my lap on the drivers side but I will check the alpines although I had the drivers side resealed when I got the car the passenger side looked ok but you never know. I'm hoping it was just the sunroof.

Omg, I went through a car wash with my daughter on the weekend. We came out absolutely saturated! :(

I have sunroofs in both the D2a and D3 and they both leak everywhere.

The D1 doesn't have a sunroof and it doesn't leak a drop anywhere, moral of the story avoid Disco's with sunroofs.

I had the Alpine windows fixed up when my D1 was only 18 months old. I had a minor ding fixed on the side and the body shop knew the of the issues with the Alpine windows and pointed out some lifting of the paint around the seals, they spoke to Landrover and they fixed it up under warranty.

I don't have a sunroof in the Disco thankfully, however the Wife has a 2 year old Hyundai i30 with a Webasto sunroof and yesterday I had to pull up the carpet with an inch of water on the passenger side. I'm getting the sunroof checked out tomorrow as it must be coming from there. I'd never own another car with sunroof after the problems we have had with this one not closing etc.
