Just when you think yourgetting somewhere

    It all goes wrong.

Some of yo uwill remember my problems with my Landy V8. N6t starting. Well, chipped away at it, Dave was a star and set up some things for me. I replaced the vac advance. I cleaned all the contacts on all the sensors. Ran a lod of fuel injector cleaner through it - thrashed it arround town with the good fuel in it at the same time. And.... It was working! For almost a week it was starting first time, within a couple of secconds of turning the key it chugged slowly into life. Occasionally, when warm, it would roar into life, just like it is supposed to!

For no reason I can even begin to understand, it stopped starting when hot. Over the last few weeks it has slowly become harder and harder to start from cold, and it is getting worse. Having to turn over to up to 10 secconds before I even hear any sign of ignition. And then it struggles to stay allive, if I don't hit the accelorator it just dies when I stop turning the key. Even then it sometimes dies any way.

Please! Someone reccomend a good trustworthy mechanic somewhere in Melbourne (preferably up north). I have a new job now which is a little better payed than the last one, so I will soon have a little bit of cash to throw at this. But I have to do something, every day I worry it is not going to start at all. And I must have it working reliably for my new job or I am stuffed.

WHY!!!! I just can't get my head arround why it would start looking so good, then just go back to it's old ways for no apparent reason. Sooooooo demoaralizing!

You've been a bit quiet of late Matt, I thought you have either fixed it or burnt it. It does sound a bit like the problem I had as described earlier with the fuel pump etc.

The closest place I can think of to you is LRA in Thomastown. I have not had any work done there but have heard good reports. Others may fill in any comments. I got mine sorted by Ray at Romsey Land rover. It's a bit of a hike for you but an option. It's worth giving a call anyway. If you do a search his number is on here somewhere.

    Good luck with it,
    Cheers, David.

I would be suspecting the ignition amp on the dissy when it won't start when hot or the fuel pressure regulator, something to go on with, Regards Frank.

    Hi guys,

Yeah, decided to teak a break for a few weeks rather than keep up the daily updates. Wanted to see if I could see any pattern over the long term. No such luck! lol

Thanks for the info on garages. Not sure if I should make the run up to Romsey. I like visiting new places, but will have to check out of there is anything to so up there while I wait for him to look at it. Might call him and see what he can do.

I'll keep you up to date. In the mean time, ARGGHHH!!!!! I am freaking out that it will just stop starting all together. Fingers crossed people! ;O)
