    This is the "Crikey this is a steep hill" switch for passengers to press when they want to get out and walk/slide down instead.

    I just checked the Rave owners manual for your vehicle and that is the Radio Volume control. Except it may have been installed by some one for another function ( may be a mother in law ejector seat or some thing) as it is supposed
    to live, and installed horizontally on the binnacle .It also looks like it has been retrofitted from the face lift Disco, as the binnacle switches on the early Discos are more square

    to live, and installed horizontally on the binnacle .
