How ironic, i was just about to post the same question.
I also drive a 1993 3.5v8i with the 89ltr tank.
I get the same mileage of 350km per tank (nearing empty) or roughly 4km per liter for city traffic and 6-7km per liter for hwy.
Quite horrific those figures, but i know the engine is running rich.
heres a link i found on the search tool that might be worth looking into:

best of luck,
jonno
i had the same problem and the problem was the 4 calipers where seased and the disc brakes where at the end of there life ,i can tell you it is night and day ,

change all the oils to full synthetic including differentials and swivel balls (i mixed half grease and half synthetic oil ) .new distributor cap (Lucas)and wires , plus the conventional things air and fuel filters airing up to spec your tires .
thanx it has v8 falcon twin thermos on it the brakes were squealing the other day coming home from the coast i put my foot gently on the brake and the noise went away i was thinkn anti rattle clips i have changed the oil to magnatec and will be doing the rest of teh powertrain shortly how do u test the air flow meter ?
just went through $50 in a 130 klms can smell petrol have checked for leaks but nothing any ideas ?
well changed petrol stations yesterday and put soem feul additive in it and di half of the day b4 amazn
what fuel additive did u put in?
Don't over oil your pod filter or it will fowl your airflow meter and it will go rich, they are a waste of time and only keep rocks out of your engine not dust. First thing I would check with high fuel use is the Vac advance diaphram.
Look, quoting how many dollars in a certain distance or 3/4 tank (from the fuel gauge) is meaningless to us.
Fill the tank, drive around, refill the tank and then tell us how many litres/100km you used. Then we'll know how you compare with us.
Check your timing... Makes a huge difference on economy when you get your timing spot on or if you want to really make a difference take it in for a Dyno Tune.. doesnt get more precise than that and the savings in fuel would possibly pay for it:D
