    Disco Brake Upgrade Options

my disco has a leaking LH front caliper and I was considering an upgrade I heard of to larger defender calipers. Does anyone know for certain that defender calipers will bolt straight up to a 97 disco 300tdi?

    any advice would be great,

    cheers

If your Disco has solid brake discs an upgrade to later Vented discs and calipers, or you can buy a kit to adapt your solid disc calipers to wider vented disc calipers and just buy the Vented discs, Regards Frank.

Yes, they also have 4.7mm larger pistons, which might not sound like much, but it makes for MUCH better brakeing

What models do the larger spaced calipers come off and are they a direct bolt on the D1?
Mine currently runs solid all round and have just replaced the rears, a little extra force up the front wouldnt go astray if not too pricey.

Alternatively what are peoples thoughts on staying with solid (surely better for driving through mud etc) and using a bigger caliper? Are there other options out there?

A stiffer caliper and braided flexible lines will give better braking performance.
Braking force is lost in caliper flex/movement and flexible hose bulging.
Calipers with opposing pistons rather than the sliding type would also be a better alternative.
A change in brake pads can give better braking but at the cost of rotor life.

Just fit the spacers and run vented front rotors.

    It's an easy job.

Just a question re front callipers.. is this the same for county callipers?? Or is this a defender only thing?? I know the swivels and stuff are better but just wanted to check the callipers

Disco front calipers are opposing pistons, if they are the same as RRC vented or non vented. So are the rears.
