    300TDI timing belt

How much would you guys pay for a 300tdi timing belt change? I got quoted $850 at rover tech. They've probably started working on it already so its a bit late to stop it :O The previous owner said something about an upgrade he put on to stop the belt fraying too so it cant be that....

Thats about right for a timing belt change out from a mechanic here in WA.. There was a change to a double lip cam on the crank to stop the belt wandering

Doesn't sound too bad...I snapped a timing chain on my old 289 XR Ford V8 and because I needed it very quickly I panicked and took it to my local mechanic who was not a specialist in dealing with old cars, even though I took it to a specialist sometimes but they were way too far away for a quicker fix.

$2000 later I had it fixed and he fed me a bunch of crap about how long the job took and I found out from the guys who ONLY did old Fords that if I'd taken it to them I wouldn't have paid anywhere near that much.

    I was sad

had one of these in a wagon but i didnt do the chain it should only take a couple of hours to do and the part should be under $100! easy and simple job to do IMHO around $500 would have done it

My local LR mechanic charges $750.00 for my D1.
Thats belt, idler etc + labour.
So about the range to expect for a supply and fit.
I have left it to the mechanic, as it is a pain of a job anyway.
Try and do it on a Freelander
    Vowed never again.
Try my D3, that was just done last week and $1,300 later
    Cheers Dave

Modern motors in Dungog did mine - timing belt including belt and labour was $385.

Throw in a new water pump and gaskets, and a healthy injector pump tweaking, was about $800 all up.
