Very interesting, I have a 300TDI with 309000Ks and was thinking of replacing the old girl but if there is another option that will give her a life extension for under $7000, especially when you look at the prices there asking for latter model 4x4s it could be an option

Doesn't Sound any quiter than a 300tdi. I was thinking of doing this to my D1 but I want a Manual gearbox not a slushbox. Looking at the engine bay, way too much electronics for my liking. I still have hassles with the other electrical crap attached to the engine (Immobliser/Spider).
I am up to my 3rd Re-Soldering of the connections. When I have it out this time I will make up a whole new PCB(Board) for next time and re-do the complete Immobiliser. will post circuit diagram once finished.
I think I'll stick with the 300tdi and get it to produce slightly more torque for towing and keep my fuel economy.

    Cheers

Hmm, I believe from the video that they guy was manually changing the auto when on the road, and I speculate that this was because they did not have a kickdown cable connected.
Easily overcome by adding a 4HP22E and electronic controller but more money.
Still, would be great in my RRC, but so would a Mercedes 3litre. What happened to the person who was going to look at the electronic issues, seeing teh merc comes in a van.

    Regards Philip A
