What do you consider the best D1 Lift combination

Okay, my D1 has a spring & body lift.
It suits the rock and deep rutts etc.
Also the tyre size l currently run.

What do you consider the most effective and user friendly combination??
Allowing for suitable flex without crap driverbility.
    Cheers Dave

Most users will probably say what ever they did is best etc.

From having lifted 5 vehicles now, I find the best suited for my driving and legality purposes is a 50mm Spring lift with no body lift.

A retired german engineer mate of mine said that lifting a vehicle any more than 40mm can have so many implications he never wants to be in one and if ever he was invloved in any accident on the road involving one he will blow any legal argument out of the water into a black hole so deep and dark that no one will ever consider it again.

He worked at Volkswagon in Wolfsburg for 35 years, did crash and simulated CAD testing and shakes his head at anyone driving massively(over 40mm) lifted vehicles on the road.
The australien government is slowly cracking down on lifts and soon be restricted same as euro spec.

I tend to agree with him unless car is used for off road only purposes of course.

He is what one would call a "Fach Idiot", loosely translated into a field specialist.

i think 2 in the springs and 2 in the body is a good combo for offroad work, with flares for the big rubber, alot of people dont like body lift but i have never had a problem with my disco being to tall,,,,,,were do u sort of measure to see how high your disco is sitting if you can,i would be curious to know how high mine is still sitting

Well, I had a 2inch lift, with polyair bags in the rear when loaded. it worked just fine...then I got bored and started playing around with suspension didn't I....now I have 3+ lift springs and new shocks in, just about to get castor checked, before I go buy new cranked radius arms, as I dont think 3degree bushes will suit.. ..oh, and then I have to go and buy two wide angle prop shafts..replace the rest of the suspension bushes...new dislocation cones..longer bump stops...perhaps a new panhard rod...and then tie it all off with an engineers certificate....yeah..I think 2 inch lift with polyairbags in the rear is the best setup

IMHO, the best bang for your buck in a daily driver is achieved with a 2 inch spring lift and an extra inch in the rolling radius of the rubber.
