Confused on rear prop shaft fitting to Disco Auto 96
Hi
Im currently doing a conversion and using a ZF Disco and Lt230 transfer case.
I am struggling with the rear propshaft fitment.
The transfer case flange has the exact same configuration as the flange on the propshaft?
They don't seem to want to go together, on the front, one had the male type flange, and im pretty sure the propshaft had a larger centre hole for the transfer flange to locate into?
Is ther there some sort of coupling, or spacer needed to locate the shaft flange to the transfer flange?
As the both have the protruding male type ring, they will bolt up, but neither can locate with the other, apart from the bolt holes?
heres a pic trying to explain.

Both flanges are exactly like this, so they can't locate together?
On the other end is 3 bolt configuration, and have been informed, that this has a coupler that goes onto rear diff connection in a discovery?
If the rubber couplers, would go from the 3 hole configuration and bolt onto the rear flange off the transfercase, then this would explain it maybe?
The bolts on the transfer flange are fairly long compared to the front ones, and look like the reuire some kind of spacer to allow the nut not to bottom out on the shaft part of the bolt, even if i could replace the flange on the prop shaft to one with a larger centre hole, to locate onto the male type transfer flange...
As you can prob tell im really stumped on how this would fit, even in a disco, if the 3 bolt flange goes at the diff end? The other male end, could never have bolted to the transfer even in the donor car I got the whole conversion out of??
Thanks in advance, Chad

Just a stupid question, have you got the hand brake drum on the back of the disco trans? The drum locates on the shoulder and then the drive shaft would locate in there?

Not a stupid question, but there wasn't the drum with it?
Maybe I need to get one?
Was wondering what I would be doing from a handbrake.
Chad.

Chad, the Disco handbrake now lives under my Rangie and the Rangie one is gone. Sorry, I forgot all about that part of it.

Thats cool mate.
Got hold of the guy I sold my Manual too, picking up the drum tomorrow.
As it relies on being sandwiched and bolted between the flange, from the transfer case, and the prop shaft, i can't see why it won't work?
Should be fine I hope.
Thanks again
Chad
