Help! EKA sequence for 97 Di TDI.

This reads as you're turning the lock and holding for 5 seconds in the lock position.

As I understand it you need to (read as locking is turning CCW from 12) "lock" it 5 times for first no 5. So turn from 12 to 9 and return to 12 5 times. Then for the second number turn CW the required number of times (turn from 12 (the position of the key after the last turn back to 12) to 3). Then repeat first sequence but for third number and repeat second sequence but for fourth number.

This could explain the beeping and no result. Unless I'm reading wrong.

Im holding it on lock for five seconds before starting the sequence. I read this as how to start in the instructions. Still no joy.
However, did go and see local auto electrical guy and he will install new remote, immobiliser and a start button for about $350. Compared to the prices being quoted for an original remote this seems like a pretty good deal to me. Its booked in for Wednesday, providing i can get it started to get it the two blockes to the workshop.

She's alive! After much help from you guys and a few hours on the net i have now successfully hot wired the old girl. Thanks very much everyone.
In the end i looked at the dash for about three minutes and decided it was too hard to remove the spider to fix it, and opted to bypass the immobiliser. A whole new keyless ignition, central locking and immobiliser, aftermarket, will be going in on Wednesday so no need to fix the spider anyway.
I ran a wire from the starter solenoid to the ignition and put a push button in the line. I also ran a wire from the fuel solenoid to the ignition. I tried the starter motor first to see if it would turn over before i connected the fuel soleniod, and it started!!! No fuel solenoid wire required....????
So now it still needs the key in the ignition on position but you push a button to start instead of turn the key more to start it. Works a treat. And all for about $15.
