Thread: A few questions

Basically the only thing to do is to remove the viscous fan and shroud. they are the only things that catch.
You have to move it up about 2 inches, however I don't why they have such long threads on the mounts and you could probably cut half off each end, which would make it much easier.
BTW, do not jack it under the sump unles you want a new TAP-TAP noise. Make up a T out of pine 1x1 or 2x1 and place it under the front flange of the sump with a jack under it.

I had it raised a bout an inch with a large block of wood between the sump and jack. Couldn't get top bolts loose so reassembled rest. Will move jack location next time.

Any ideas on whistling noise?

When the engine is running, I get a whining/whistling noise either from the air box or the power steering reservoir. Any ideas?

Well its hard to make any useful comment on such a wide field.
A whistling noise could be an air leak into the manifold. you should check all vacuum pipes that go to the manifold AFTER the throttle plate. One thing to check is whether the plate that holds the IAC at the back of the plenum has come loose. Check the bolts that hold the manifold to the head and spray CRC along the join and see if it changes.

A whining noise could be the bearing in the belt tensioner or the PS pump itself . I cannot see how the reservoir would make a noise. It could also be the water pump bearing or the alternator bearing.
I suggest that you get a long screwdriver or better a doctor's stethoscope with the amplifier off the tube and place it on where you think the noise originates and everywhere around the place , even where you don't think the noise originates.

Phil, I live as stated at Avoca Beach, if we are referring to the same Central coast and would be happy to have a look although I am rooted in the past with a V belt RRC.
I will PM you my phone . No go over Easter as family is coming and I would be Persona non Grata if I stuck my head under a bonnet.
