I have a similar rig called an ezimotow that connects to the hayman reese receiver on my 97 Disco. I recall at the time the Disco was only rated for 150kg ball weight and my DR650 is 147KG dry so I was concerned about the excess when you factor in the weight of the ezimotow and fuel in bike etc.
I managed to find a towbar that was rated at 200KG for the Disco, still a Hayman reese style but for some reason the rating was higher. Anyway the compliance plate on it states 200KG down force but I know that Landrover says max 150KG so I'm not really sure who got it right ; )
Well I've only used the rig a few times and it was fine with the DR and I took the bike up to Lithgow from Sydney a couple of times without any drama's. I also checked with the RTA about the overhang and they said the same rule as pushbikes applies which is 150mm either side (i'm slightly over at 200mm but shhhhh)
I stopped using my rig due to the bike not being really suitable for off road and I now have a camper trailer using the towbar.
Cheers
Mark
