rear Bumper ends question
Question, Ends for rear bumper??? Hi our lifted 1995 TDI Disco was missing the rear bumper end pieces when we purchased it, and due to a 2 1/2 inch body lift the rear bumper is around an inch lower in relation to the body [so long as Rego does not worry about this one inch lower rear bumper in relation to the body, we are not worried about this, but is mentioned in case it must be considered by forum members who kindly are willing to answer my questions].
The left end of the bumper middle section is just a little bit twisted, but we do think we could straighten this, and so then buy & put replacement end bits on our existing bumper. So that I probably do need to put a wanted ad in the AULRO markets in order to buy some replacement end sections [the bumper on the TDI Disco that we are selling has rust, so swapping over these rear bumpers is not an option for us. Those other end bits are okay].
But my question is, “are ends from other models better than the standard ones, or are there other end bits that are known to fit this bumper???” I did see a picture on this forum [possibly on a red series one Disco in the market section] with different end bits, or else a totally different rear bar—I am not sure which. We do have a Hayman-Reece Tow bar fitted, and so need to have a bumper that is compatible with our Hayman-Reece ,or which has an inbuilt Hayman-Reece & a step, without loosing any of our existing departure ground clearance.
So are other bars or ends that we may get at the wreckers/or AULRO markets any better than the standard bumper/ends. At the moment I like a bumper that I can stand on—we do have a high roof rack on our Disco. And so I do like the standard Disco bumpers as I can stand on them when it is raining [not like our RR classic when I always stood on the open tailgate when needing to tie things onto our roof bars, at least once done in the rain], & we are not after something that looks better than standard—just after something with functionality.
I do not pay more just for looks, hence do not want a fancy expensive bumper—after all I do drive Land Rovers which already look great, though I do not think later Land Rovers look that great [Range Rover classics, Discovery 1, Series, County, & Defenders all look great in my mind. Later Range rovers & Discoverys look not so great in their styling as far as I can see, looking way too much like all the Jap crap, but do not criticize those who want a later car for its zero kilometres or low kilometres.]
