3.5 injected disco blows black smoke

My disco is using about 19L per 100K

Blows lots of blacksmoke on start and under full load.

First i replaced the coolant temp sensor, and replaced the thermostat to an 82 degree just to make sure it was not running in cold mode.

Next i shouted it a new airflow meter, i thought it was running better but next trip it was blowing black again

    Any suggestions will be appriecated.

    Cheers

    I'd check the injectors also.

Convert it to gas, its much cleaner.
Failing that, Bosch yellow-top 4 hole injectors from the US, eg:

I believe the 3.5 Disco does. THe RRC version of the 3.5 is earlier and does not.

The other thing to do is to check your fuel pressure at the rail. Regulator failure is not unknown. I had a Falcon XG ute in the other day that was sucking neat fuel up the regulator vacuum hose, amounting to a cupful every couple of minutes. Pull off the vacuum hose and check for fuel.

Some tuning of mixtures can be done with an adjustable pressure regulator. They often come with a pressure gauge attatched and are available on ebay for ricer cars.

Black smoke is usually over fueling, therefore you need to check your fuel and fuel control system. As has been said the injectors could be the problem as could the fuel regulator. I'd also be looking to clean the Airflow Sensor and maybe changing the air filter and poss the fuel filter (can't remember if one is fitted on your model) though a blocked or faultly fuel filter usually causes fuel starvation but strange things can happen. Once this has been done check any cold start features your motor has and then it's onto the hard stuff.

Not much point in getting LPG until the basics are right as you may compound the problem and start chaising your tail.

Air filter, fuel filter, AFM, coolant temp sensor all new. i even replaced the thermostat to make sure it was not running below operating temp.

i don't know of any cold start features though??????
