Pretty sure the recommended is a 950CCA for a TD5 so i would guess the same for you.

I'm hoping that the right answer to that question is a Supercharge Allrounder MRV70 because I just fitted one in my Defender. If you can wait 4 or 5 years, i may be able to confirm that.

Supercharge Batteries - Car Batteries, Maintenance, Expanded Grid Technology

I bought from the local servo and he says he sells a lot to boat owners and that people seem happy with them.

They seem to be a lot heavier than similar size batteries. I hope that is a good thing.

Others have said good things here about that battery in the past.

Yellow or Blue Top Optima. I've got a Blue Top that is unkillable. Recharges quickly, can withstand heavy drain, highly vibration resistant, can be mounted in any orientation, no leaks or maintenance, etc, etc. Only downside is cost, but mine has paid for itself many times over in being able to sustain heavy cranking or deep draw. And it'll punch a lot harder than its specs suggest based on my experience.

I got the biggest supercharge gold series i could fit, 670 cca and will probably get an allrounder for a 2nd batt.

You should be able to pick up a Century MarinePro 720 for less than $200 from BatteryWorld. Good solid performer in an N70 (12") case that can take a hiding with vibrations and pretty good at recovering from deep drawdown.
Its all I use in the 'fender and flotilla of boats I watch over!!!

+1 for the Supercharge battery. I installed an NS70 580CCA in March 2002 and replaced it in Sept 2009.
