You'd better tell us what model LR you have.
Hi guys, I have what I think you'd consider an electrical fault with my centre console lights to the climate control and auto gear selector illumination lights.
Bascially they just don't light up when you turn the headlights on. Thought it may have been just a fuse but they're all solid with no broken fuses. What does work are the illumination lights for the power-windows on the centre console. Is this just a loose wire or something a little more evil
On a side note, the front internal light works when the door is opened but not when you try to turn it on manually by switching the lamp to on. Is this part of the centre console lighting problem as well? Your thoughts please
P.S. due to my very poor internet coverage near Kilmore Vic, everytime I use the 'Search' function, I always seem to get 'Retry in 59sec'....hehe just another Gremlin in Land Rover land perhaps.. lol
You'd better tell us what model LR you have.

Not a bad idea Ron ...... doh !!!!!
Got a little caught up in all the great info on the site and I forgot not everyone is a mind reader or looking out my window to know what've got. It's a 1998 Disco which makes it a D1 if I'm not mistaken (only had it for 7 days), V8 petrol/gas, 170k's. Two lpg tanks 70lt I think giving 390k's highway and 30lt petrol giving off lots of vapours in a confined space....mmmmmm
.
Yep, Disco 1. I'll move this thread to the Discovery 1 section. Electronic Diagnostics refers to using computer tools to diagnose problems.
You are going to need RAVE which includes the workshop manual and the ETM (Electronic Troubleshooting Manual) $16.50. See here: http://www.davesitshop.com/davesitsh...od&productId=1

The lights for the auto selector should come on with the ignition key. Not related to the headlight switch.
Not sure about the electric window switches though. They may be connected to the headlight circuit.
The interior light operates off 2 circuits. One is the "manual" on which over-rides other systems. The other is tied into the door circuit so that when the door is opened they come on. Also they should automatically dim on the door circuit after the door is closed.

Thanks Warren9981. I've ordered the Rave CD and hopefully should be able to start tracing the source of the problem. I see Andy thinks he's found one solution, although the autotrans lights are a worry if they're off the ignition![]()
But then I did buy this awesome vehicle to have fun with and I'm guessing this is just the begging![]()
