Missing fuses
Hi all, I'm new to Land Rovers, new to the forum and new to self-diagnosis and repair!
I have a 1994 (update) Discovery 300 series and since I bought it (Oct last year), the central locking will not operate with the remotes (I've cleaned them and replaced batteries) and is sometimes out of sync (rear door will often not lock/unlock with the others) a couple of weeks after I bought it, the passenger side stopped working centrally, but can be manually key-locked. I'm guessing the latter is an actuator problem, which is a bit more of an adventure.
Given the pain of my personal economy, I thought I'd have a crack at repairing it myself, or at the very least, working out exactly what the problem is so that someone doesn't try and rip me off for extortionate labour charges.
First stop was to check the fuses and I've discovered that fuse 4 on both the "B" and "C" interior satellite fuse boxes are missing altogether. The B 4 fuse relates to central locking and the C 4 is anti-lock brakes according to the workshop/repair manual.
I was wondering if anyone who has a similar model could check their fuse box and let me know what gauge fuse to insert for those two slots? I don't know if getting it wrong will cause any damage, but I'd rather know before I do it.
Also, the horn has never worked either - is this likely to be a wiring or fuse problem? I couldn't find anything in the manual about how to troubleshoot it and I'm not confident enough yet to go jabbing around too much. The horn fuse is present in the engine compartment, but I couldn't get it out easily.
Thanks in advance.

I take it you have an ES model (leather trim, sunrooves) as this is the only 1994 (1995 model year) to have remote locking.
If it's not an ES, then it's aftermarket gear & you need to see how they've fitted it. They could have used the LR actuators or they might have replaced them with generic types. Aftermarket might explain why the fuse isn't fitted to the central locking spot.

Thanks for that - it must be aftermarket, as I have cloth interior and no sunroof.
Any tips on how I should go about locating the brand and how it is fitted? Should I pull off the door trim and check the actuators for branding (guess I have to do that anyway to replace the passenger door actuator)? Very glad I didn't charge off and buy a LR part without checking first.
I am reasonably technologically competent and logical (for a girl
) and used to carry out a lot of routine maintenance on my motorbike and lawnmower, but this is a little more critical as the LR is my only form of transport and I have two small kids.
I can't afford to pay someone to fix it, but I can't afford to stuff it up either. Remote central locking might sound like a cosmetic problem, but at present I have to leave my kids on the footpath unattended and out of sight (to keep them away from traffic) while I lock up if I have to park on the side of the road and I consider that a major safety issue.

D1 update AFAIK have central locking from the drivers side door so you should be able to lock doors from the drivers door.
fuse sizes are usually listed on the door/flap cover for the fuse box. are you in the eastern side of brisbane?

Uh oh, I'm a clown - the sticker with the fuse sizes was staring me in the face! Thanks bigcarle! I'm in inner west Bris.
It seems my CL woes aren't over - it's hooked up to a Repeller car alarm and having fiddled around with it, I set it off and nearly gave myself a heart attack - couldn't turn the thing off except on the device under the bonnet and it is freakishly loud. I've done some searching on here and Google, it looks like it is going to be a pain in the proverbial. I'll call the company on Monday and see what they can tell me.
