    jerry can holder

    Hi Guys,

    am looking at a jerry can holder for my trip which is coming up in July, found 1 at Supercheap Auto that has it mounted to the back of a discovery on the spare wheel, an ideas how this can be was done?
    pictures would be good

    I'm sure it would be illegal to mount to spare wheel so a swing away carrier would be the only option, on a roof rack it would be too heavy and a PITA to get it up/down.

    And side mountings I assume are illegal too?

    Was considering rack mountings . The swing arms cost like half the value of the car.

    In cabin just doesn't seem. .. smart.

    The only sensible place to carry extra fuel in a D1 is low down in a pair of sill tanks. Plenty of second hand ones around, keep your eyes open.

    There's a single right hand one in my back shed that was abandoned by its owner about 10 years ago, not sure how easy they are to post though. In any case, when my mate with a LSE wanted a sill tank (longer and shallower than the one in the shed) I just had my local sheet metal guy fold one up. Took less than a day to weld, clean and mount it. A simple trapezoid shape that didn't extend under the chassis rail like most do.
