squeeky steering
Hi all,
I've got top the point where my squeaky steering is getting on my nerves. I've read it is a known problem and is the column rubbing on the firewall grommet(?) but does anyone have the info on how to fix it?
Thanks,
Phil

Hi
Not wanting to state the obvious but how about some thick lube, like lithium grease or similar?

Grease works short term, did mine and is good for a while but now the noise is back though not as bad - tried rubber grease and regular grease. There is apparently a permanent fix involving a PVC sleeve slid between the rubber grommet and the shaft, the sleeve is cut along its length so the rubber grommet holds it in place without a space for the water to get through, the inside of the sleeve is greased. Been meaning to try this for a while as the noise is annoying.

oh well, trial and error i guess.
Cheers all
