just look at vehicle rego for instance. i bought a trailer in SA that had never been out of rego since the day it was first regoed and in good nick.
tried to rego in NSW and had to go through the hoops as if it was a brand new trailer, including getting a VIN stamped onto it. didn;t have one cos it was rather old. all fixed, but cost me a decent amount that i don;t think was necessary.
on the other hand, in WA i bought a D2 and transferred rego into my name, didnt need a RWC or blue slip and didn't even need a WA licence,
    my licence is in NSW
my main driver is regoed in QLD
my camper is regoed in NSW
my second car is regoed in WA
cos its too much drama to get them all in one state.

i guess the same applies to doing 105klm/h in a 100klm/h zone, everyone does it and you might get away with it, but it is breaking the law and if you are the unlucky one to get targeted by a pedantic policeman, well too bad.
each to his own i guess, the rules are there for a reason, some i don't agree with but easier to abide by the rules now than try and argue them after the fact if you are involved in an incident.
guess i am just lazy and getting old.
interesting thing is if you travel interstate, which laws apply ? can you tell me that ?
    Ok, lets make this simple.

    Vehicle standards information sheets

Plus I have added 2 at the bottom which are appropriate to NSW drivers.

Light vehicle modifications (Department of Transport and Main Roads)

Sorry Qld folks but too late now for going through that spider web of in decipherable drivel....

    http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rd...340/0/VSI8.pdf

There we are, Vics basic guide to safe vehicles on our roads

    Vehicle standards information : VicRoads

That's the link to the main page.

If you want, go through it your selves, I may be wrong as I'm not in the automotive industry anymore so there is the information to at least make an informed view and maybe you can work out what is and what isn't legal or safe from that.

By the way, it looks as though those flipped rims may just come in within the guidelines in NSW and Vic due to the alloy wheels on Disco's having a wider offset but without putting a rule on them I wouldn't be sure.

You can in those states only increase wheel track by 25mm max over the widest offered for that model vehicle without an engineers.

    Cheers Casper
