    Toyota locker on Disco??

This is probably a very stupid question, but will a Detroit locker from a Toyota Landcruiser fit in a Series 1 Discovery (rear)?

The reason I ask is I have one sitting under my bench (from a previous vehicle), and rather than sell it would like to use it if possible.

I think I know the answer, but thought i'd throw it out there anyway.

Stranger things have happened but almost certainly not.
One problem is that the axle splines and diameter are AFAIK different, another is that the crown wheel diameter is different, =different holes in the flange, the spider position and size etc etc etc.

Be aware that I am talking from intuition here and YOU should do the work and compare axle splines/diameter etc.

I plan to when I can get my hands on it next week. Or I might just chuck it on ebay and put the $$ towards a something else fro the D1.

Just realised I have a rull set of axle housings, axles, centres etc from an 80 series Landcruiser sitting there too. Might check out what is required in bolting that under the Land Rover.

Anyone done anything like that before?

Quite common, match it with a GQ nissan front, you'll have 4.11 diff gears and stronger driveline to boot

You can fit anything to anything given the will to do.
Just because the parts dont fit does not mean you cant make them fit.

Heres a pic of 3.7 LandCruiser axle assemblies in my series 2 LR

That said complete 80 series axle assembly might be too wide.
