I know you said not HID but that's what I did. Everyone always comments on how bright and white they are. For a $50 out lay on Ebay it's a cheap upgrade.
    Cheers, David.

How often do you get flashed with the PnP HID Kit???

I fitted one to the wifes daily and the glare is rediculous! Had to adjust the RHS right down to avoid getting flashed.

Aftermarket kits might be nice and bright for the driver that has them but not good for drivers travelling towards them.
    They are not legal
Hid lights on modern cars have specially designed reflectors, the are NOT JUST A BULB IN AN ORDINARY HEADLIGHT.

Even with 'specially designed' optics, the high light output plus glare from HID's is dangerously distracting. - Thats the factory-fitted ones, not only the after-market, "Me-Too" stuff.

The distraction factor is the elephant in the room... Not only are HID's much brighter, the colours are all differant, depending on the brand, bulbs, condition of lens/reflectors and colour of dust on the headlight 'glass'..

    - The eye is drawn to 'brighter', 'differant' colour, differant specular appearance and, as we have all experienced, 'one-UP and ond Down' alignment...

The original incandescent Projector lights were bad enough, with their colour-fringing and razor sharp cut-off, - Now add the other qualities of HID and it gets worse.

Here's a simple test to show how bright and how many cars are out of alignment...

    - Pull down your sun-visor so that you can see the outline of your head.

If you have two SHARP edged shadows, the the lights behind you are too far UP. - Rays of light are travelling UP from the headlamp to your sun-visor. And mirror, in case you have'nt noticed...

Correctly adjusted HID lamps in a new car correctly loaded, no fat pax in the back seat, with squeaky-clean headlights won't do this... but notice how bright they make the inside of YOUR car !

Then look up the Australian Design Rules, and see 'where' the light is supposed to go. And not go...

End of rant, for the moment...

Have you upgraded the standard LR lighting circuit to Relay-driven? There's a couple of threads here, Traxide will sell you a kit and tell you how its done. WELL worth it.

Upgraded the H4 bulbs to +30 or +50 ones ? - Even new standard ones should be a bit brighter than 10 year old originals...

Clean your glass ? Inside as well as out- Reflectors still reflecting over 85% ?

    - A barely noticed layer of dust can cut your output by a whopping 50%, or to put it another way, a clean, old lamp will out-perform a dusty HID.

Save you money and spend it on Driving lights, or LED bars for off-road.
-Or fix some of your Oil Leaks...

Upgrading the brightness of the original globes to a higher value is still illegal anyway so what's the difference. Yes I agree that misaligned lines lights are a great distraction and annoying. I went to a lot of trouble setting mine up so it would not dazzle other drivers. Which I had to do after a lift and larger tyres (Also illegal). Yes they are illegal and so are the many mods we do to our trucks but these light are so much safer on the road at night than the poor yellow standard lights.

    End Rant.
    Cheers, David.
