300 Discovery Pass. & Rear Door locking/unlocking problem
Have noticed over the last 3 days a clicking in the driver's side door (same beat as a turn indicator but there are no lights operating anywhere)
Today the Pass. & Rear door are not operating (3 Door) & no locking/unlocking sound or action is going on ( locks/unlocks with the key ok)
My first thoughts are the small door lock springs need replacing but do they?
Something a bit strange is happening & before I order springs from the UK @ 10 quid a set of 3, has anyone any clues to what might be going on?
I will have to remove the door card to inspect & that may reveal the cause but in the meantime has anyone struck this problem before?
Driver's door only locks & unlocks with the remote. Actuators???
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi 4bee.
Haven't had the indicator clicking noise, but my pass and rear doors also won't unlock anymore with the remote, but work fine with the key.
Since you're not hearing any noise when trying to unlock it is likely to be your actuators. If something is stuck you usually still hear the clicking of the actuator trying to push the rod.
Regarding your drivers door I also had a similar problem (actually with rear and drivers door) and found when I took the door trim off, the locks were covered with dust. A gooooood soak in WD40 did the trick and the key works fine again.
(havent replaced the actuators... didnt know if I could get replacement ones or had to replace the whole system so I decided I live with it for now)
oh, and one piece of advise for taking the door trim off: either get/use a proper doortrim removing tool or order a couple of pins in advance since they are bound to break. Also have some silicone or tape handy to seal the dust proofing plastic back on.
good luck!

Thanks D-94. "She" is booked into the Auto Elecs for tomorrow now, so I'll soon see.
Removed door cards yesterday & found nothing obvious & certainly no 'usual' clicking noise to point me in the right direction (#@&%$*$@*) & that was before I removed the card.
I am wondering if it was the 2nd actuator of sorts, mounted vertically on the Driver's door edge which connects to the lift linkage with a clamp. No idea what this is unless it's tied in with the safety Fuel Cutoff switch on the firewall & only works with a collision, but I ain't going to try that yet.
Not a lot seems to be on Google re this, so I'll ask some questions tomorrow while I stickybeak over his shoulder.
His screwdriver up my hooter while so occupied in said stickybeaking may take my mind off this though.
I suspect it will be new main actuator time though, as the Disc is 16 years old ('95 facelift) & disappointingly things don't appear to be made to last these days.

All fixed. 1 x Tailgate actuator & 1 x Pass door actuator using Jaycar type (universal) jobbies. Reused the 2nd Actuator as fitted to Driver's Door
Slave ....http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=LR8814
Master.....Master Door Lock Actuator - Jaycar Electronics
Seems better than it ever has been since 2000.
