Yep that V8 is only run in. The zf should last longer than the motor if serviced. Cheers
V8 probably, Tdi only just! :-)

My V8 ES hit 300,000 just before Christmas I think, BUT, its been on the round for ~4 weeks in the last 4 months. Gearbox got reco'd, 4.5 weeks there, had to take it back twice because it was sticking in 1st, another 1.5 weeks x2. Just now its been at the mechanic for 2 weeks while being off the road the 3 weeks prior, insides of the alternator were fried, air flow meter unrepairable. Got it back last night, such a relief to be back in that than my mum's 84 Mazda 323. Now I get to test LPG again to see if the air flow meter actually did something to affect my 40L/100km LPG usage...
Even after all these problems, I'd still buy another Discovery, but I would definitely look at it a bit closer next time.
I need to get out more.... 147,000kms 300TDI '95 Disco 1.

Ok, tempting fate, I know, 344,834 km's on my 1999, D2. It has some issues, but only high use issues [ brake pads, brake disc rotors, leaking rear hub seal, nothing that can't be fixed. bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
I just got an email from Australian 4WD Action headed :
Could your 4WD last a million kilometres?
Then there are the details:
Just last week we shot a sensational Land Rover Defender that’s nudging very close to that magic 1,000,000km mark. While the current owner hasn’t put all those kilometres on the truck himself, he did tell us it’s had nothing major except a replacement head in that entire time. How’s that for reliability! How many kilometres has your 4WD racked up? Head over to our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/4WDAction, click the ‘LIKE’ button, let us know and post a photo to prove it. If yours is one of the highest I’ll put it into the mag!
Glad to see that it was a Defender
Hey I saw that email too...surely the engine was a 300 Tdi right?![]()
