I bought a couple of metres of good quality rubber and lined the floor neatly with it. I'd never go back now i've done it! I made it so its dead easy to remove. As for noise, well i run 35's so its noisy anyway, and the difference between carpet and no carpet, is hardly noticable.

and whats this about avoiding mud puddles? thats half the reason we 4wd isn't it?

Can't wait to see the pics. Sounds like a good plan. The right rubber would also address the heat issues.

Not if you want your vehicle to last, what does it prove, I just can't see the sense in it, it destroys the track and the truck, I've seen whole areas closed because someone wants to drive in grinding paste, Regards Frank.

Hey mate i live in tassie and more often then not when u ome to a bog hole theres a cliff on one side and a hill on the other, and it rains here a LOT!. Sorry no way around and i didn't buy a 4bie to turn around and go home everytime i find a puddle in the way. yes tracks are closed all the time and more and more often because of fools carving the track into 20 different ones. trust me it happens down here a lot, we're loosing some of our best kept secret spots on the west coast because of irrisponsible 4wders. i didn't put all the work and time into my car to destroy the bush, but i also didn't plan on missing out on a lot of fun. Responsible 4wding is what its all about. each to there own with mud tho. Not sure about the heat either i haven't had a scrap of trouble with suh thing. I have a TDI, not sure if the V8s exhaust is on a different route.

I'm talking about people who deliberately drive into 4WD made bog holes for the sake of driving into them. There is a whole area closed off at Bendethra because a bunch of clowns dug a bog hole with their 4WD's so deep that the roofs of the cars are level with the normal ground surface and then there are all the chicken tracks either side. NPWS closed this area a few years back Permanently. Also there was a small dam that these mud nuts got into and stuffed up, this sort of behaviour will end getting the whole area shut up.
I'm sorry you live where it rains and you know I wasn't talking about "puddles", if you like driving in bog holes go for it, but don't complain about chicken tracks around your puddles, try filling them in before the authourities close them for you, Regards Frank.
