Is a Disco done at 300,000 k's.

My 1993 has 314 000K and mechanically good.needs brake pads.

the paints falling off the windows mechanism are rusting.heater cores dead and A/C needs helpno radio.
Ist got rust arond the rear door and bottom of the front door openning.

Ive bought a 1996 to replace it 312 000K-the front axle leaks oil.the engine leaks oil the oil cooler leaks-power steering bottle ABS sencor not working/has been replaced.new rubber joint for rear tailshaft.
mufflers fell off-headlining falling down-door regulator-ignition key not fitting

Thanks all, well lots of replies, some heartening others not so. Interestingly enough I have been scouring the "net" and any classifieds I can look at to try and track down a reasonably schmick Disco 1 "S" Tdi 300, pre '99 of course, looked at lots and lots. tonight I rang a guy in South Aust who has a '98 "S" with only 157,000 k's on it, sounds hopeful you must agree. not many K's what could be wrong with that..........mmmmmmm? While the photo's posted on the net show what looks like a reasonable vehicle, after intensive questioning it also comes with "the usual" list of, well, the vacuum pump is done in, the hood lining is down, oil leaks, no rust he thinks, but not too sure.............. I find myself wondering what poor old Landrover are all about, well, c'mon, it's not like they only had this or that one problem, after looking through the market place for so long as I have now seen and heard the old, "well they all do that" thing so many times, it's almost as if the LR factory specified, "they will all have hood linings falling down, brake vacuum pumps failing and lets not forget to build in as many oil leaks as we can, and as many nooks for mud and corrosion after all they are only paying a mere pittance for this nice new vehicle".
I find it so sad that they can produce something that is so absolutely capable off road, give reasonably affordable economy (300 Tdi, at least), such great comfort in all conditions yet have so many "common failings" over so many years and models.
But I digress, some of you have answered the question with precisely the right answer, the main running gear seems near non-destructible no matter how many Klm's but the other stuff is always going to be the pain in yer backside, and you know what? I have so much respect for the brand I will buy another one, the best one with the lowest Klm's I can get and then spend a lot of my spare time replacing broken/failed bits, fixing the annoying little bits and pieces, simply because to drive a Disco on a hard 4WD track or on a nice bitumen road makes it all worthwhile.
I'm hoping to pick up a "good Disco" whilst down in the Southern states over the Christmas/New year break, as they say......... "watch this space". Merries to all.

I hit 300 last week and my 00 v8 hasn't missed a beat.

Obvious servicing but other than that it's great

Our '94 300TDi Auto Disco has done 518,000 Klm's and it is dry underneath. :o

Just changed the water pump, I brought the pump from the UK, a lot cheaper from there and with parts at those prices, I can afford to have a good selection of parts sitting on the workshop shelf, just in case they are needed.

Hi all , Does not matter if its high k,s or low you can still have issues with all the add ons. Low k,s short distant no good, high k,s highway driving prefered.

Also 350000 is adout average k,s for 97 model.
