Sean, how are you going mate, got your Disco ready for a trip into Bendethra yet, yeh I seen that Mythbusters episode as well mate. But they were using a 2+ metre long yank tank tail shaft not a (around) .8 metre shaft that is more likely to go vertical than the yank tank behemoth. Anyway mate the point is a short T/shaft is likely to cause a LOT of damage, even if it doesn't turn into a pole vault, actually I'm not sure whether a front LR t/shaft can hit the ground if the front uni lets go, someone will correct I'm sure, Regards Frank.

Hi Frank, I see your point re the yank tank. Also, now that you mention it I'm pretty sure that the front shaft would drop onto the front cross member spinning madly and bashing all in it's path.
The Disco's doing good, got a few minor issues but nothing too big. I'm currently doing up a 4.4 to slot in under the bonnet. Planning my new draw system for the back and looking at an interior refit.
As for Benderhra, I have a couple of people interested in going along too, just have schedule a weekend off together.
Last year was pretty full on, but should get some time this year to have a bit of fun.

dmdigital had his double cardon joint let go on his D2. Punched a big hole in his transmission and ripped the wiring loom to bits. About 10k's worth from memory.

From my recent experience, if one end UJ is gone, then it's good practice to replace the other end as well while you've got the propshaft out (ie the transfer case one that's shagged and the diff end as well). If you don't, there's a good chance you'll be doing the diff end in the next month or two. Last two sets of UJ's have been that way for me (both front propshaft and rear).

    Cheers

They should be available from your local Clutch and Brake workshop, I think they are series 1310 Hardy-Spicer, should cost between $25 and $40 each set, look elsewhere if dearer, Regards Frank.
