Good god, where's this from? I think my mechanic is trying to rip me off, told me upwards of $900 for a new alternator for my V8.

We have a Disco 1 V8 that has V belt cooling but flat belt Alt drive. Its Alt went and it cost us $500 to replace. It seems the flat belt are unusual.
Is yours flat or V?
If you were closer you could buy it as we have laid the car up now.
Alt only done 100 kays to get the car home

The flat belt pulley can be swapped with a vee belt pulley or vice versa. The Bosch alternators are easily fitted to these models. The OEM vee belt alternator can be fitted to the serpentine engine with a few small alterations.

Decided i could do without the Disco for a week, so have ordered a 100amp alternator from the UK for 114 pounds plus postage.
