Anyone else have a rear bar with end caps that seem to droop down... or is it just me.

The metal work underneath is fragile and the slots in the tabs are elongated so that the end caps can move a little. Very easy to fix, and probably better that they give a little before everything breaks.
I recently had the whole bumper off ours because a taxi decided to drive into the back corner of the Disco when we were both stationary. It seems he thought I'd driven off, but last time I checked the Disco remained, as it always has been, quite a conspicuous object from 4m away. That aside, the bar comes off with a couple of bolts and is easy to work on.
Don't feel too badly. Even the U2 Spy Plane has droopy wings.![]()
Take the bumper bar off, 2 bolts only, straighten /repair/replace the placky corners. Easy.
Ah, therein lies the mystery. Conversation was as follows:
Me: "did you not see me there in front of you?"
Him: "I thought you had driven off..."
Me: "mate, it's a REALLY big car so it's very difficult to make that mistake."
Him: "well there's no damage to your car"
Me: "actually, everything you see that's bent on the back end you just did!"
He didn't want to do it through insurance so I said "you have one opportunity to make good on this, so we do this nicely or I get my insurance company to sort it out". He paid for a new bumper end cap and straightened everything else because I couldn't be bothered taking it to his back yard mechanic. Got myself one of those sitting in this computer chair.![]()
the bumper end caps on a disco one are **** weak, after having replaced them numerous times on my 95 disco, I bought a H/D rear bumper problem solved plus I now have jacking points built in
