About mounting the pod in the Disco. I think the one in the first link is mounted with an angle iron inside the window air vent (and requires that you pull out the black plastic air vent fins-thingy). But thats just me guessing.

Since I live in a cold climate I was thinking to make mine more narrow so that I don't interfere with the air vent. -20 and blocked air vent might not work so good. ;)

My idea of making a dash pod fit nice to the dash is to make a mold by saran-wrap the dash, and the using plaster bandages, then invert it in the same way to get the positive copy of the dash. On the copy I'll then make the fittings of what I want in the pod and design the form for the fiberglass for it. Am I missing something? Is there an easier way to do it?

Just a few questions, to fit the pod, did you have to pull out the car stereo to tighten what I am assuming is some sort of backing plate that sandwiches the dash? Or was is secured first then you installed your chosen items into the pod?

I like the idea of the Pods down the right hand side, I have one at the moment for my temp guage but will be adding another shortly. I have also placed some switches up high in the roof console, with my UHF Radio.....here's a piccy....:D

Also home made - Pod is a welded steel frame, 1.6mm aluminium angle covers. Main reason for using steel is that its easier for me to make, also to provide a firm mount point for the GPS. The whole thing is bolted through the dash and picks up some metal frame. Room for another similar gauge if needed. Made it from what I had in the workshop, so didn't cost anything but time.

Mounted the CB on the roof console with aluminium brackets, ran an extension for the mic, antenna and power inside the trim to the dash to keep it out of the way.

As a tip, if you need to remove any of the screws in the plastic dash, replace them using a small flat washer - this allows you to tighten them properly with less risk of cracking the plastic. Without the washer the screw can catch the plastic and stress it by twisting, often braking off tabs. The washer also increases the surface area for tension. Replacing all the dash screws this way has pretty much eliminated all the creaks and rattles that had developed over the years.

I had the idea overkill had with the roof mount uhf but I would use a smaller one and also have been thinking about boost voltage gauges but I rather them on the puller as I think would look neater and not so much in the way
