Well done Pete,my mate had similar problem, you've done well
hi.
i have a 94 disco v8.
i had problems with it stalling very regularly.
once it stalled it wouldnt start for about 5 mins til it cooled down abit.
it stalled on fraser island at xmas and i was stuck there for 3 extra days trying to get it going.
it turned out to be the magnet inside the distributor.
it had cracked in half and upset the spark gap so the car wouldnt fire.
its not exactly the same symptoms but may be worth looking at.:D
These replacement distributor kits are very affordable and, according to reports on other forums, work extremely well.

I had constant niggling problems with my 94 DI for years, I stopped short of repainting it to see if that would help. Then Bee Utey fitted his coil conversion (see his post on it) and it turned it into a diferent vehicle. I cant praise him highly enough for having the nouse to work out how to use commonly available parts to build a much much better system, at very little cost particularly in comparison to the thousands that I spent over the years trying to get it to run properly.
