Took my disco apart this week, and hoping to bolt hundreds of dollars of new parts back on this weekend.
Just wondering about the flywheel, is there a minimum thickness and if so do you measure it between the raised or the lower bit on the engine side to the clutch?

there is, I cant rememebr what it is, you generally wont hit it on the first machining, and if its so screwed that you will a good machinist will simply tell you that no, its not worth machining, a new one would probably be cheaper.

ok - pedro, now I'm confused....
but anyhow.
I found a thickness - 36.960mm according to haynes manual. RAVE disc doesnt seem to have an opinion on thickness, or maybe I just cant find it.
Problem is now that mine appears to be 35mm - but to confirm this I'm off to Bunnings now to get myself a proper measure device (not an adjustable spanner and a steel ruler...)
Oh and by the way, I already got it machined today, at an Engeneering place down the road - but didnt even think about thickness etc until I got home
God I hope its not too thin....
Are there shims to compensate for it if it is? Or what would be the problems caused by it?
the potential is flywheel failure.... realistically its overengineered but I'm a stickler for tolerance, if its too thin or so close that I think it might wear to the point of being too thin then its a very nice paper weight you have there, go get me one that looks like it but makes tolerance so I can finish working on your vehicles.
