yep....
not the master cylinder....
Bum, guess you will have to slide the box back, as there isn't much else involved really. I don't know any way to test a slave, if you press while off the car then I reckon you will watch the piston fly off :) Not sure what kind of rig you'd need to hold it steady.
I tried to peer in with a snake scope through the slave hole, but it was all for nothing, just can't see anything till you pull it back.
Yeh, its a new slave cylinder as well, so thats all the hydraulics covered (bled about 1 liter of clutch fluid through the system with the front raised, just to be sure....)
was thinking of going to the extreme to cut an inspection hole (i.e. a square section) in the side of the bellhousing and glueing it back in with gasket goo.... but then decided that was a bit too extreme considering the box can be back out within a couple of hours, and whatever I find the problem to be, it is more than likely I need it to come out to fix anyway.... :(
oh... welll....
time for a little update for anyone interested.
the box came back out last Saturday and back in yesterday, and this time it works.
So you ask, what happened?
Well, as it turns out, a very unfortunate series event led to me having the wrong clutch plate in the box.
Its the right size, the pressure plate is the right size and height etc, but for some to me yet unknown reason the clutchplate had a raised bit of about 1.5 or 2cm around the center splines pointing towards the flywheel.
A different clutchplate fixed the issue.
So one piece of advise after this episode of... Make sure the parts you got are 100% identical/compatible to the parts you are going to install,... especially when its as inaccessible as the clutch!
There. I certainly learned my lesson....
Hope you all have a great day and are enyoing your Landrovers!!
Thanks again for everyones input :)
