    Sunroof okay afterall...damn thing!

Well if anyone saw my posts about my leaking sunroof a while ago, then resulting in me finding rust under the front floors and having to fix that, then this was a surprise to me.

I had taken it to Prestige Sunroofs a couple of times to get the sunroof looked at and fixed because out of absolutely nowhere it started leaking really badly one day when it rained. Prestige was going to charge $300 to change a seal that they thought "might" have been the problem but the strange thing was they couldn't get it to leak even when they hosed it down heaps.

I took it away and then brought it back again after a while to get this done and again they put the hose on it because I wasn't sure if it needed to be messed around with and it didn't leak. The guy even took a better look at it and said it all looked pretty good and looked like it was sealing well from the outside and since it was a Hollandia 300 sunroof they only seal from the outside there are no drains. So he said it should be fine especially since we can't get it to leak with a good dose of the hose. He was great, can't say enough good things about the guys at Prestige Sunroofs they seemed very honest and knowledgeable.

So I didn't get anything fixed and just recently with our latest run of big storms in Melbourne I took a chance and left it out in the weather and to my delight (so far) it has been rained on to the extreme for days on end and no leaks!

So I must have just got something in there momentarily that meant it leaked when it rained the next day all that time ago. The guy from Prestige even suggested that's what probably happened.

So for now, I'm glad, and I've even got no more rust in my floors WOOHOO!

just occasionally the sunroof will leak when the wind is blowing the water the right way or if you have the vehicle parked on just the right angle....

fits into the same catagory as

"that rat bastad intermittant electrical fault" you can never ever get to repeat in the presence of a mechanic or auto electrician.

"In a Landrover the other vehicle is your crumple zone."

For spelling call Rogets, for mechanicing call me.

Mine leaked one time and I discovered it was because of a leaf which was letting water in. DRemoved teh leaf and no problem.
