Maxxis bighorns, D1

I thought the white writing was a bit ify considering it is actually blue on mine and so i elected to go for the black outer.

Why they put it on only one side or even at all is beyond me. :cool:

AFAIK all the bighorns in any size have the white lettering on one side. Not sure about the rest of the maxxis range.

I seem to remember that when the subject was discussed in the past that some people had strong view in favour of white on the outside, some had equally strong views about white on the inside and some people felt they had more important things to worry about. :p

Because I'm a hack and just wanted the job done, I did the 2 back wheels with a slightly different approach. Hopefully you can use to make your decision easier!!

I used sheet metal snips. An angle grinder with the "right disc" (I don't know much about grinders) would probably be better, but be careful as the guard is quite flexible, so may jump around when you hit it with the grinder.

I made the cut, leaving about 10-15mm that I could bend it around to still have the fold.
Bending the panel makes the paint peel/crack off.
If I get some touch up paint, I believe this will look better.

I cut exactly where I wanted the edge to be.
If you're careful you can do this without peeling/cracking paint away, in which case will look better if you don't want to touch up the paint afterwards.

I've found the lack of paint doesn't worry me as that area is always covered in mud anyway. :D I had to spray it with the hose to take these photos!

My 235/85R16 Bighorns have NO white writing at all. These tyres work well for me & I will not run anything else. Tyres left at 40 psi over Easter break in Sth Aus. where everyone else run 20 psi. This worked well for me, but it is up to you to experiment with a good spotter.:D:D:D

I have 245/75 R16's Bighorns on 16x8 -25's and have camel cut my guards in the rear but still scrub on the top of the door arch. There arnt many side lugs left now...:( Even with 80mm lift in the rear it still does it.

just put my new wheels and tyres on my new toy the wheels are king wheels 15x7 $85.00 each and hankook 31x11.5 Dyna pro mt's got them for $195.00 per tyre was also going to buy bighorns but when I came across these for the price just couldn't say no also need to do camel cut, have an 80mm lift in her . She was blue slipped and rego 'ed yesterday. can't wait to get her out and flex her up and see what she'll do also looking at some flares.

They look great! Although if they're 31" I'm surprised you don't have to do a camel cut stil!?

I do need to do the camel cut. It only just touches the rear guard when I took the pic I think about 1" off the guard should do the trick
