    noise in front brakes

    hi all, have put in new front pads, disks, and fitting kit ( retaining pins, springs and clips) have got a clacking, knocking sound coming from the wheels brakes that goes away when the brakes are applied, had alook under there today and noticed both front inboard pads are quite loose while sitting in place, can move them around by hand while the outboard pads are tight like you would expect, both pistons are definitely working, am wondering if there should be a shim, anti rattle piece of metal between the inboard pads and the brake piston, any ideas? brakes work fine otherwise

    thought it might be the dust shields rubbing somewhere but it doesnt look like it

    for starters how are the wheel bearings?

    and yes there should be an anti rattle pad.

    Check that the disc is tightened correctly to the hub by giving the DISC a shake. Check the fixings on the caliper are tight. I can't see anything else there that could make that noise.

    You didn't by any chance forgot to slide the springs back onto pins ?
    If you can't fix it with a hammer , you got an electrical problem .......

    turned out my new discs, one has a slight high spot, slightly warped, good on ya brit part, so it is grabbing the inside pad when rotating and making the clacking sound as the pad moves slightly
