    L12 AND L18 ENGINE

    HI DISCO FANS ,CAN ANY ONE TELL ME THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 12L 18L AND 20L ENGINE.MY 97 DISCO HAS ENGINE No STARTING WITH 20L I'VE GOT A SPARE ENGINE I WANT TO DO UP BUT THE ENGINE No STARTS WITH 18L ..

    18L is a 300tdi & was fitted to manual cars, 20L to autos.
    As for the actual differences, I don't think there is. I seem to recall a power difference between Defender & Disco engines due to the turbo position but the manual & auto engines are the same IIRC.

    12L is 200tdi.

    300TDi Auto engine has a few more horsepwer over the manual box engine, Regards Frank.
