    Gearbox go crunch

Just moved my disco (91 5 speed) and putting in reverse it went clunk clunk bang and now no gears. Anyone one have a 5 speed they are selling or no of one

I assume you've checked the obvious & it's still in high range?

it IS an lt77..... expect the worst output splines stripped, mainshaft broken, or any of the swiss cheese 10 spline axles....

Yes still in high range. When selecting any gear can hear a slight whurring noise in gearbox. Hopefully get it out this weekend and find the problem. Just trying to find another gearbox to be safe

Ahh, so they're like an early R380 .

Any of the propshafts turning while in gear or does the car drive with the centre diff lock engaged ?

    Sounds like $$$ then .

Have a look around for an R380. They're a better gearbox & are a direct conversion.

Or have a chat to Peter at RangeParts, 02 9896 2355, as he has a lot of experience with these gearboxes & might be able to point you towards a cheaper option.

Broken differential, CV or axle. When the vehicle is out of difflock, are either of the tailshafts rotating when the clutch is let out in gear at idle? If so, the rotating one has a broken component downstream. I am betting front inner axle or CV.
