Really? i keep hearing stories of land rover axels/cv's being too weak to handle anything over 31's without risking breaking things, but if they will in fact be fine then thats a plus to me :)
so the defender tranfers case wont be enough?
if so would anyone happen to know any good workshops to change the diff gears to 4.11's in Vic? and around what the cost of doing this mod is?

you will most certainly be at more risk of damaging a diff or axle with larger tyres, i broke a diff with 235/85's (just under 32") and many other people have done similar, don't let it stop you from putting the tyres on, just be aware that rover drivelines are not overly strong, and eventually you might need to replace something
I have run 32's and 33's on my disco for a long time and I'm still on the original diffs itallcome down to how you drive and I don't go easy by any stretch of the imagination
Is anyone running 255/85's on a 0 offset rim or less and do they fit without flares? I gather a serious camel cut would be needed.Quote:

I think with 0 offset they would hit the guards and would need flares of some type. As for front and back clearance it only need a standard camel cut. I run 235/85's with a 2" lift and camel cut, no rubbing at all, flexes well..
I have been running 33s for a few years now. Got the rims and tyres new, cant remember the offset.
Big guard cut needed as the correct offset brings the wheels out just enough to prevent rubbing on full turn.
I had to re drill the swivels also to get the steering geometry right. Fun and games.
Im reading a lot about lifted units. Would that even make a difference? I mean your bump stop will dictate your final position... Bigger springs will give you a better starting position but under flex the diff will still hit the stops.
Meaning bigger tyres will rub. Unless you cut the guards or do a body lift.
I dont agree with that. I have done 4 diffs now since putting on 33s. Those roved diffs are as weak as ****. I show 0 respect to my vehicles though.Quote:

I had a complete stranger knock on my door recently asking me if i wanted a few spare diffs he had for the disco.....
Why? Because there **** and break if you breath on them. Was pretty much his reason for knocking on a complete strangers door to offer said diffs.
