    Locks and alarms

Yet another little problem to sort out!
When I remotely unlock my '97 Disco 1 the passenger side and rear door locks don't quite disengage. I have to put the key in to complete the unlocking process. If the passenger wants to eventually get out, as they usually do, then they have to lift the latch in order to open the door.

    That's the first problem.

Second. On a few occasions lately when I go to star the engine, I turn the key and nothing happens. All lights and everything else electrical seems to work. After a few minutes patiently waiting, it starts.

I wonder if it could be related to the first problem because when I sometimes forget to electronically unlock the car first and just use the key, the alarm goes off. And a very sick sounding alarm it is too!

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance

Problem 1 is the springs in the door catches - buy a full set online for about 15 bucks - you will need them all eventually... trust me.. fiddly but easy job - a good tip is to use a digital camera to take photos as you take things apart so you can reference them when you go to put the bits back together
You will also most likely need to order the plastic door trim catches at the same time, as you usually break some of them removing the door trim (probably the worst part of the whole job).

Problem 2 is the Alarm "Spider" or control module - common fault caused by a dry solder joint - similar to the problem with the electric windows. Plenty of threads on how to remedy...

    Cheers,
