Might be worthwhile giving these guys a call: Door To Door Car Carrying - Home
A few of us had our 110's freighted Cairns-Melbourne in July for $1600 each. You might find its only a couple of hundred to get the D1 picked up and delivered to your door. By the time you hire a trailer, pay for fuel, and frig around for a few hours collecting it it might be cheaper/easier.

I bought my first D2a and the wife hadn't seen it...........................but with her money![]()

Have we worked out what it actually is yet?
If it's a D1, then I'll move it across to that section.

Thanks all for the advice. I am going to trailer it, but can this beast ride safely on a standard car trailer? I have booked one through Uhaul but am worried that it won't be durable enough for the 3 hour highway trip back to Canberra from Sydney. Intending towing with a V8 Commodore
Thanks for any suggestions.
Jez
You are looking at towing over 2 tons of car. Higher trailers are not rated to that unless you get a specially built one. On the other point, a Commodore is only rated to I think 1600kg and that's with a HD bar. When I used to tow heavy weights behind the Commodore the back doors would not open.
Short distance you can get away with a normal higher trailer but you are doing a great distance at speed.
Cheers, David.

I feel pretty average now for even contemplating this trip! I have left a message with door to door towing and see what the come up with. Thanks to all who have helped here, probably saved my license if not my bacon!
