SWMBO's disco is in severe danger of getting One of thesefitted between the turbo and the intercooler, just waiting on it to arrive and then theres the custom fabbing of the mounts, hosery pokery and a smite of pumpery tweakery and we should be apples.... right after I install the boost gauge, pyro and the fuel tanks to feed it...
Hell i might even get to taste diesel while I dial it in.
yes, there'll be a thread.
a link to your intercooler might be helpful.

Got a mate in NSW, has one fitted to a 300Tdi engine that is installed in an '86 Range Rover Vogue, I have had a ride in it, as far as I can see it doesn't go any better than my old bog stock Disco 300Tdi, his has had all the "strap ons" fitted to it as well, his is auto, mine is manual.
I personally think a lot of the performance enhancement exists in the head, and when you're are young and cashed up, why not?
There will be those who may disagree of course.
Or am I talking about a different device altogether?

a better/more efficient intercooler will not add any performance, just gives you more scope to change other things, like the fuel pump![]()
I understand that, but as I have said, his young guy has already got and done lots of the "performance enhancement stuff", spent lots of time and money.
And as I said the Tdi "seems" not to do any better than the standard item.
hi guys just so you know my tdi is a bog standard engine don't want to do any fuel pump tweaking until i have a better intercooler as i believe that if you change one thing you should compensate for that so you have a buffer zone to work with. just my belief![]()
Hi mate, im also on the verge of doing a cooler upgrade for my 200 disco an after a bit of researching, im still 50/50 on either air to air or liquid to air design either in barrel or box form. Reason foe being undecided is that from what I have looked into with liquid to air is that they are great at heat dispersion while at low speeds such as traffic or 4wd conditions as the liquid is constantly scrubbing off heat from the intake air.
Air to air is great while at speed simply because of the surface area an core size etc an being in the direct path of air works more efficiantly than liquid coolers under these conditions.
Drawbacks of liquid to air are if its damaged or for some reason have been manufactured poorly, water can end up in the engine which I don't like thinking about whereas if damage occurs to an air to air most of the time it will just be frustrating loosing power till its fixed or replaced.
I'm toying with some ideas of running both liquid an air types for the best of both worlds or just a big square or box type mounted at the front so the whole unit is cooled a little more from incoming air.
you have an intercooler....
go sequential
from turbo to water/charge cooler then through the Air/charger cooler.
simple.

Think that might be the way to go
