Front caliper repair or upgrade?

Yes, the front rotors are the same diameter, thickness and offset/height and are interchangeable between early Defo and D1/RRC. Ø298mm x 14mm thick with a 70mm height. Also, if you want to go to vented you can get vented rotors and space the calipers you already have with a kit from Zeus (UK), or LRA, Graeme Cooper (in ascending $$$$).

Yes, the solid D1 fronts can be used on the rear, if you use the matching Defo 110/130 rear calipers. Not compatible with the std D1/RRC rear calipers (different diameter (Ø290mm) and thickness (11.7mm)). This should rebalance the brake system however your brake pedal travel will increase even more (moving more fluid as the Defo's use 26% larger pistons than D1/RRC).

If I went for the front 110 calipers from a 1986 to 1993 model that suits non vented rotors, can they be fitted to my original non vented 1997 D1 rotors that I had recently replaced in the search for better braking?

Also if I do have to buy new front rotors, is it true that I could then use the calipers and rotors taken off the front on the rear?

Any part numbers would be greatly appreciated.

I had brake fade when towing the car trailer with the project Rangie on the back on my 93 disco.All i did was fit slotted rotors and green stuff brake pads and use nulon brake fluid.I have not had a drama since.It seemed a lot easier than changing calipers and worked really good for me:)

If you used a defender brake booster and master cylinder as well would that make the peddle movement go back to normal travel distance?
