You must have a lot of downhill roads in Belgrave! There is no way I have ever seen 7.6L/100 out of my 300TDi.......

If im very kind to my 300TDI auto I can get 8.5L/100 but that is over a short distance, like 100 km. As soon as I drive normally its up to 9.5-10.5L/100 but I do live in the Adelaide Hills so need to use the loud peddle quite a bit.

Im not into bagging the Td5 i did realy enjoy my Td5:p This fella asked a simple question i just stated the obvious which is what he requested , So please read the whole thread before you disect post,s and and bag others opinions we are all intitled to our own opinon , It s not a mine is bigger than yours contest  we can all be keyboard experts but experience speaks louder  Chill pills are free:angel:
Nowhere near 7.6 in the Dandenongs. Trips to Adelaide, Flinders, and countless trips to the High country I would get around 7.6 on the highway runs. Now that the old girl is 340K old it still does 8.7 -9.5L around town and the hills without the aircon on.
Keep your wool on. I was simply pointing out that your opinion (concerned about Td5 electronics) was at odds with your experience (50K km without dramas). Your experience reflects the reality that the Td5 electronics are actually very reliable. As you say "experience speaks louder". :D
cheers

Why bother, get both!
just to clarify earlier stated that the td5 is comon rail, its actually unit injected, 2 very different systems.
ive had a 300tdi and td5 and really like my td5 refinements, its a little unfair to compare an 04 with a 97 but i would take either on a trip anywhere, if i lived in a remote area I would pick a tdi, i still dont believe i could drive my td5 through water and mud and be trouble free as the tdi was, but thats old skool reliable vs new tech power and refinement
