    oil leaking from front hub

hi to all, Ive just noticed that oil is leaking from behind the front dust cap on the front drivers side hub and then dribbling out on the Tyre.it is seems to be coming out the center shaft that's positioned in the drive member. also i noticed that the dust cap was cracked is that cap like an oil seal or do i need to look at maybe a seal further in the front hub any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated .cheers

That is only a dust seal.
There is a gasket on the the drive flange, which can be removed with the 5 bolts that surround it.
Maybe try to renew the gasket after cleaning both the drive flange and the hub faces.
You can use some grease on the gasket or some black silicone instead of a gasket.

thanks Tom ill try your suggestion but my main concern is that the oil is coming out through the centre shaft does the gasket you suggested seal the entire front hub . thanks for your help .

It's most likely coming from the swivel housing, or maybe the diff oil. It's a relatively common problem and I just recently had the same issue - swivel oil coming out the dust cap. It was a seal between the wheel bearings and swivel housing. The seal is cheap so will cost you almost nothing if you can do it yourself. Off the top of my head the only special tools you might need is a wheel bearing nut spanner and I needed a smallish bearing puller to get to the seal.

thanks judo, there seems to be only 2 seals before the swivel housing the one on the rear of the hub to keep grease in the bearings or the other one which i think is at the back of the stub axle i could possibly send you a picture of the parts in the front axle if my info is not enough

Your info is enough. The seal I'm talking about is at the back of the stub axle. You have to take the hub off (along with the wheel bearings back hub seal), then remove the stub axle to get to it. The seal is removable from the back/inner end of the stub axle. That's where you need to remove the bearing. From the back end of the stub axle, it's bearing, then oil seal.
