Thread: Reco 3.9 V8 in Sydney

Hi All,
I've not been able to find the source to the many problems with my current'97 V8 so am thinking a replacement engine is the way to go.

Ideally I'd like a fully reconditioned motor with a decent cam to get the old girl moving along again at a decent rate (she really is slow).

I've read the plethora of posts about using the 4.6, conversions etc, but I really don't want issues with engineering, insurance etc.

Where is the best place to purchase a reconditioned engine in Sydney (or have the existing engine rebuilt) and what sort of cost am I looking at?
I call Higginbottom and they quoted $7200 for the base engine... seems a bit high to me.

Try Ben at KLR, they are out kingswood near Penrith but he is top notch, if no luck there try Gary at potter automotive at peachtree rd Penrith his my regular mechanic and his good ( that's why I go there lol) tell him Daniel scutts sent you or told you to call.
