    Bullbar issues

    Hey guys,

Ive recently just purchased my first 4x4 a discovery v8i so fairly new to this im looking to set her up with a bull bar and having looked at ARB im not really keen on spending over 2 grand for a bull bar and TJM say that they dont make them for my vehicle . The disco has air bags which seems to be the biggest hurdle as most i find are non compatible. Is it possible to fit a non air bag bull bar anyway? is there anyone good that someone can recommend that's decent and cheaper?

    Cheers,
    Shane

P.S if there is another thread about this feel free to advise me cheers!

    Bullbar issues

ARB used to make them, I had one on my v8i.

Your best bet these days is gumtree or ebay second hand. Perhaps place a wanted ad here too?

There was a recent thread on D1 bull bars
    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...ilability.html

personally I'd be reluctant to fit a non airbag compatible bar on a vehicle with airbags as besides the obvious safety concerns the insurance would most likely be void if you were in a major prang.

yea cheers guys the arb is just a bit too expensive and ive found the xrox bar at half the price nearly so that looks like a go'er, might go check around some wreckers or keep an eye out as you mentioned dull bird yea discomark you bring up a good point with the insurance and safety concerns and definitely don't want there to be safety issues!

    bull bar

I picked up an xrox bar for $1075 (5% discount after laying down a 50% deposit) at opposite lock in Newcastle. I spent the best part of 8 months keeping an eye on ebay/tradingpost/wreackers/gumtree before giving up.

Bear in mind in a smallish accident a Air bag approved bar will take the impact through its specially designed mounts where as a non air bag bar will push it through the front chassis rails potentially causing alot more damage to the vehicle rather than bar/mounts.
