    ABS Fuse ??

    1997 Disco 3.9i ES
OK, my ABS was playing (intermittent failure) up so I removed the fuse to revert to "normal" braking. Anyway I was testing, and after the ABS fuse (upper panel #3, 5 amp) was removed, the ABS was still working and pretty well at that. The ABS light was "on" on the dash, but the brakes were ABS'ing fine.
My question is what does the fuse actually do with the ABS then?
    Cheers C_pugWASH.

Did you remove it from the inside fuse box or under the bonnet. I removed mine from the fuse box under the bonnet and stopped the ABS working.
    Cheers, David.

I took it out from under the steeing column upper panel #3 fuse 5 amp. I didn't touch the engine compartment FB. I also talked to a tech this morning who said my problem with the ABS might be the 1 way valves (both ends) on treh vaccuum servo?
What number is the fuse in the under bonnet compartment please?
    Cheers 10_Toes

I'm not sure what the fuse number is and don't have the car anymore. The fuse box might be in my shed though. I think it was listed on the lid, start there and see how you go. This is only recommended as a temp fix if it's really causing issues. You should still get it checked out. I only disabled is for off roading as it was way over sensitive on mud or loose stuff and would not let me pull up.
    Cheers, David.

Cheers mate, I spoke to a few service techs yesterday and after much head scratching there was consensus that both the 1 way vaccuum valves culd have caused the ABS poblem in the first place. They suggested to replace these and replace the fuse and try gain. This I will do. Thanks for your interest and help. JK
