Thanks good stuff.
A big bug-bear with the Defender was the inability to park it in town as it needed a minimum 2.2m clearance - and that only JUST fit.
2.1 would be OK, 2.0 (which I suspect would be OK in standard trim) better. Looks like I'll have to get the fiance a car with no height issues....
There are no rails on my D1.
Hmm, those MX-5's seem low enough....
My D1 has a 2" lift and roof rails. I've yet to find a car park it won't go in. Fits just fine in the underground one at Southbank.

There you go.
With a 2" lift I would go 2.1m car parks, but I reckon 2m might be pushing it, even if the numbers technically add up. A small variation could push it over! Standard height suspension definitely fits in 2m.
Thanks heaps that's very helpful !
Another thing to remember is that the carpark signs that say how high it is often fail to consider some of the signs that hang from the roof.
I can get the D2 into the car parks, it's just some signs hang lower than the 2.1m and the sound of a metal sign scraping across your roof is just music to the ears.
Not
ahhh My cousin told me he had this problem one time. Got into the car park OK, but then tried to drive out a different path and scraped the roof!! He is certain his vehicle is lower than the sign posted height. I hope that never happens to me! I would be very angry!
I went Lovells 2" lift springs which gave me 2" higher chassis/body when fully loaded (which it is all the time (tools/camping gear)). also 33x12.5x15 which gave me another 2 " under the diff, no roof racks and I fit into most carparks. Also Bilstien shocks, cost of springs and shocks around $800. But I also have 4.11 CWP's to compensate for 33's and cut guards and flares to accomodate wheels, Regards Frank.
Springs were $300, got the Bilsteins off eBay, they were bought by a bloke that had lifted his Disco 2 " had the Bilstiens fitted and drove 15klms home and found he couldn't get the car in the garage and as it was steel and concrete he couldn't open it up.
I got 4 Bilstien shocks with gaiters and rock guards (for the rear shocks), Plus a Bilstien steering dampner, all in their original boxes and with reciepts from a week earlier for $500, sweet, Regards Frank.
